Wrock Wreggies

The title speaks for itself. I went to Wrock Wreggies this past Saturday night and words on this post cannot do it justice. I met Lauren Fairweather and Matt Maggiacomo there as well as The Blibbering Humdingers, JFF, and so many other people from plenty of other awesome wizard rock bands. I focus on Lauren and Matt so much because Lauren is the person who brought me into the world of wrock and Matt is just awesome (and engaged to Lauren.) In addition, she was one of the first YouTubers I started watching. Meeting her in person was incredible. She's one of the nicest girls anyone can ever know. Matt helped me pick out merchandise with his own suggestions. Did I mention she high-fived me without me even asking for it. We were just talking about how amazing the show was and nerdfighters and she just stuck her hand up and high-fived me. I hope to see her again someday.

I fanboy way too much, don't I?

Back to the show. It kicked off with a pre-show outside by The Blibbering Humdingers who write funny songs and are really nice people. I had a nice chat with Scott Vaughan (one of the members) later in the night. Lauren Fairweather opened up the official show playing some of her best songs. We even got a couple sneak peeks at some songs that are going on her new album and I can't put them up, but I can say they are amazing. Next The Blibbering Humdingers played their official set and incorporated Doctor Who and Lord of the Rings in their songs and of course, what would be a concert without a Friday joke? That's right, folks. The sensational song, Friday, showed up at a wrock concert. On a Saturday. Life sure is funny.

Justin Finch Fletchley was next to take the stage with some assistance from Matt and Lauren. I have no words to capture how energetic he was on stage. I've never seen a man bounce off walls like he did that night. From jumping into the crowd and dancing with fans, to spitting water into the air, he knew how please an audience. I'd like to see someone top his charisma.

Diagon Alley was on next. It was a bit sad, though. They mentioned that the band was breaking up and this was their last real show. Let me tell you, they knew how to put on a final performance.

Draco and the Malfoys were next up and of course played some good ones. I've got to admit. I'm a fan of "Tom Felton's Kinda Hot".

The Whomping Willows were the last to say and Matt Maggiacomo brought it. Amazing songs, he had the entire building singing along like there was no tomorrow.

There's so much more I could say. This night is one to be remembered forever. Everybody there was just super awesome. The wrockers were really nice and just normal people and the fans were like you and me. That's what made this so much better than any other kind of show. The fact that you could easily be in the front row and then casually head over to the merchandise table and talk with everyone. Even my dad, who didn't seem to enthusiastic beforehand, left that night talking the whole ride home about how awesome everyone was and how much he enjoyed the show. He, too, can say he talked with Lauren, Matt, JFF, and Scott Vaughan from The Blibbering Humdingers.

With the final Harry Potter film coming out this July, there is talk of whether or not wrock will continue now that it's all coming to an end. To put it in the wise words of Lauren Fairweather, "It's up to us now to keep it going."
